Aura
She used to eat regular (i.e. meat-based) dog food like Wilderness for the first 3 years of her life. Did she like it? Sure, she seemed to eat nearly everything we gave her. I decided to do some research and found out that there were many dogs thriving on a plant-based diet. I enquired about a number of plant-based brands before deciding to go with the offerings from Evolution. Aura started eating the Gourmet Fondu line from Evolution and now eats their Max Life line. She loved the first one and now loves the second one. She is doing great from what we can see and our vet seconds our observation. Blood tests etc. all point to a very healthy dog. Given that she eats between 275 to 300 lbs of this dry plant-based kibble a year plus other veggies and fruits like broccoli, carrots, apples, rutabaga, etc. we figure that over her anticipated lifespan of 7-10+ more years that she will have not consumed anywhere from 2000 to 3000 lbs of meat and meat by-products. Now if we were to multiply this times millions of dogs it is easy to see the positive impact this will have on obviously the animals spared by the plant-based foods she eats, the environmental impact of raising animals for food etc. The lives of all of these animals spared are all important factors to think about. It is very speciesist to think that our pet’s life matters more than that of all the other animals that will need to be killed in our insistence that they eat meat. As a vegan, I see this as the only ethical course of action. I purchase the Evolution food from a place called VECADO (VEgan CAts and DOgs) located in Toronto. The owner Mikhail is very pleasant and accommodating and happy to answer any questions you may have. VECADO delivers the bags right to my home for free. I can’t say enough positive things about this company and the food Aura has eaten in the past year and a half.
